About us

We are the Hayes Trio, an international ensemble (Norwegian, American, and Spanish) formed with the purpose of providing live music for the San Francisco Bay Area in the wake of COVID-19. We got our start as a trio busking in the Hayes Valley neighborhood, and you'll often find us playing outside on warm nights when Hayes Street is closed to traffic (what a great atmosphere, with restaurant seating spilling out onto the street and people having a good time socializing—distantly, of course!). You can also find us busking on Valencia Street, the Castro, the Saturday morning Ferry Building Farmer's Market, and more places to come!

Idunn Lohne

I’m Idunn and I’m a violinist from Oslo, Norway. I am a chamber music master’s student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and before I moved here I studied in Charlotte, NC and Pittsburgh, PA. I grew up with journalist parents who traveled with me a lot ever since I was a baby, and when I was 14 they moved us to Amman, Jordan. My 4 amazing years in the Middle East made me want to continue to explore the world, and so I decided to move to the US to study!
I discovered my love for chamber music when I was 10 and started playing in my first string quartet. My favorite thing about chamber music is people! I love getting to know my colleagues, exchanging ideas, and working together to connect with our audience.

Mitso Floor

My name is Mitso and I’m a violist (and wannabe cellist) from Seattle, WA. I got my start playing chamber music at age 14 with my first string quartet, the Bach Street Boyz, and I’ve been obsessed ever since. Sitting down to sight-read music with friends is my absolute favorite pastime, and sharing music with people in a live setting, whether through concerts, busking, playing at restaurants, or anything else, is a close second. I attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music for my undergraduate degree, and though I’m now studying at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami for my master’s, I’m back in San Francisco taking classes virtually. I also love making videos of myself playing many different instruments (and non-instruments) at the same time, which can be found on my YouTube channel, Beanzo!

Rocío López

I am Rocío and I’m from Madrid. I’ve been playing the cello since I was 5 and I studied in Barcelona and the Basque Country. I always knew that I wanted to travel and experience new things, which is what brought me to San Francisco! I am a chamber music major at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and what I love the most about chamber music is the team work (and amazing repertoire). As a musician I have spent many hours practicing for myself, but chamber music reminds me that it’s not about me, but a shared artistic experience! That’s when music makes sense to me!! When I’m not playing music I like baking, watching true crime shows, and listening to Mumford and Sons and Beethoven Symphonies. And I’m in love with my niece and nephew ❤️
